|ABOUT||Just imagine Finland as a place of 100
people: there would be 51 women, 11 would live in Helsinki, 3 in
Lappi, 2 would be from Russia, 2 would be farmers, 1 would have a
PhD, 89 would speak Finnish.
For the 101 FOR ALL prohect we searched for those 100 people. This cross-section of the Finnish population was based on known statistics, such as gender, age, language, income among others.
During the Spring of 2015 we travelled around Finland and visited those 100 people in their homes and ask them about their world view, what are their opinions on the topics that divide our society, what do they belief in, what are their prejudices. We wanted to hear as well the stories and life experiences that shaped their opinions and beliefs. Was it a singular childhood event, or a gradual change of opinion?
The video material collected on this journey will be made public in an art exhibition in Taidehalli (Art Hall Helsinki) in October 2015.
Statistics have a powerfuel influence on our opinions and policies, but the colorful pies and bars and boxes of statistical pictures doesn't tell us much about the real people behind the numbers. Sometimes two people fall into the same box; but have completely opposite stories. We want to uncover those stories.

WHO IS BEHIND THE PROJECT?
We are Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen – an artist duo which has made many participatory art projects in Finland and abroad for more than 10 years. Here is our web site to find out about our activities www.studiokalleinen.net
WHY DO YOU MAKE THE PROJECT?
People have many different opinions on any subjcet; but what are the personal stories behind those opinions? We believe it´s worth taking time to listen why people think they are thinking as they do.
We are as well interested in the question of representation. Public opinion is formed by scaling the opinions of a small (representative) selection of the population. In our current form of democracy we have decision makers trying to representing us and making decisions on our behalf. But can somebody actually represent me? Or us?
A third topic that is relevant for us: the difficulty to separate opinion from prejudices. By placing people in certain boxes or sticking labels on them, we see them as a representative of a larger group instead of seeing the individual in front of us.
CAN I SUGGEST OTHER PEOPLE TO TAKE PART?
Yes, if you can think of someone who might like to take part, please tell him / her about the project and ask him / her to contact us - that would be great!
